I had the distinct pleasure of attending the
Cohasset Classic Car Concours on September 18th and can't say
enough about the way that Founding Chairman Peter Brown and his
support crew brought about such a warm, distinctly different and
highly successful program.
From my arrival (with photos taken of every car entered) to the
personal placement of each competing car in well-ordered and
well-marked areas, the cordial welcome by all the organizers, the
extremely thorough and competent judging, extensive and delicious
catered lunch, homey and convivial award ceremony at the concours's
grounds, the police-escorted parade around the spectacular Cohasset
coastline and beautiful residential roads, to the public viewing of
cars on the Cohasset Common North Lawn, the day proceeded with
seemingly effortless ease (and I think we all know the TREMENDOUS
amount of work required to make things look "effortless").
The Porsche 356 club has evidently adopted this event, as they made
their presence known with twelve entrants. Alfas were represented
with only one entrant (yours truly), plus one owner present but not
entered (Ken Buntrock from Hingham with a lovely Duetto, hopefully
to be an AONE member soon) and also a later model Spider owned by
one of the organizers.
I'm hoping that next year this superlative meet will get a more
significant Alfa Romeo turnout, especially in view of the fact that
the gorgeous location is in the very center of our club's
demographic area, and just the ride to it is well worthwhile.
