This year's North Shore AONE tour
was initially faced with a less than solar forecast, but then the
Alfa gods woke up, cancelled the rain, removed the usual Saturday
shore traffic, and brought out the faithful to Glynn Motorsports.
This all resulted in a wonderful drive, meeting new members, eleven
caravanning Alfas, and a final collection of Alfas at GMS, many of
which are rarely seen together except at Tutto Italiano. Paul Glynn
was his usual entertaining answer-man self for anything historical
or technical Alfa.
In addition to the locals (Peter Walker & Meg Anderson, John
Paradiso, Michael & Deb Leccese, Greg Stidsen, and Tom Ducibella),
the rest stop launch point brought together Jon Levi & Kay Tanfield,
Frank & Karen Anigbo, new member Fran Mastroianni, Giorgio Kradjian,
John Basel, and Gino Evangelista. We proceeded up to Gloucester,
through the famous clam country (fried clams, that is) in Essex, and
on to an Ipswich Little Neck parking area for an ocean photo op.
Defying the clouds, all Spider tops were still down and the hearty
drove on through the marshlands of Newbury, and finally south to
Glynn Motorsports, where ingegneri Paul Glynn and Michael
Wrigley met us. We were joined by several other Alfisti who had
driven directly there (Tom Frieberger from VT, Bill Fannon, Paul
Leone, Len Cannizzaro, and Rod Burdick). The group included a Giulia
Nuova, Sprint Speciale, Giulia Spider, Montreal, Duettos, various
GTVs, and more recent Spiders. A lunch of wonderful tasty sandwich
wraps was supplied by Cathy’s Country Kitchen (Route 1 in Rowley, a
breakfast and lunch stop, often sought-after by clients and friends
of Glynn Motorsports).
