Map & Directions

The AONE Cape Crusade III drive will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 (rain date Sunday, October 20). This year we will explore the Upper Cape. For the uninitiated, Sandwich is on the Upper Cape and Provincetown is on the Lower Cape. The starting point will be where it was last year—at the Dunkin’ Donuts in Patriot Square (see the directions below or use the Map & Directions button above).

Drivers should arrive around 10 a.m. for coffee and donuts. We will depart on the drive at 10:30 a.m. Gas and restrooms are available at Patriot Square. We will head north to Route 6A, and then turn west to drive though the villages of Dennis, Yarmouthport, and Barnstable, stopping briefly at the Barnstable Harbor Marina to view Barnstable Harbor and the Bay. At West Barnstable we will turn south for Cotuit, stopping briefly at the Cape Cod Airport in Marstons Mills, a grass airfield dating to the early 1930s. We will drive through the lovely village of Cotuit and stop briefly at Loop Beach to view Cotuit Bay. From Cotuit we will turn west again to Mashpee, and then drive along the beaches of Vineyard Sound into historic downtown Falmouth.

At Falmouth, we will turn west for Woods Hole, where we will eat lunch on the waterfront in the popular Fishmonger Café. Parking is available in Woods Hole at the town parking lot but all spaces have meters that require 8 quarters for two hours. Bring some change! We will keep to back roads as much as possible and should be at the restaurant around 1:30 -2:00 p.m.

After lunch, those who wish to stay in Woods Hole (the Aquarium is open until 4 p.m. on Saturday) or shop in Falmouth’s historic downtown area may leave the group after lunch. Those who wish to drive the lovely back roads of West Falmouth along Buzzards Bay can follow me to the intersection of routes 28 and 151, where you can head north for the Bourne Bridge and Providence, or turn east at the Bourne rotary to drive along the Cape Cod Canal to the Sagamore Bridge and Boston. Driving maps will be provided for all drivers and their navigators.Tiny Quadrifoglio

Directions to the Crusade Start
(See Map & Directions button above)

After getting on the Cape, take Route 6 (the Mid-Cape Highway) to Exit 9A (the exit sign says 134 South, Dennisport). Go south to the second stop light and turn left on T.F. Smith Road. Take the first left (Enterprise Road) into the parking lot. The Dunkin’ Donuts store is on the corner just past the Cinema. There are several gas stations on the road after you get off the Mid-Cape at Exit 9A for those who need to refuel or use restrooms. Look for the Alfa Romeos parked by the Dunkin’ Donuts store and enjoy free coffee and donuts. We will depart at 10:30 a.m. Anyone who is running late should call Phil Bostwick’s cell phone 617-927-0057 and we will wait for your arrival.
