By Tom Ducibella Wonderful weather, top-down touring, turnout and tribute at Glynn Motorsports. Thank the Alfa gods for honoring the rain date. Although only a few of you could not make the rain date, May 18th turned out to be a spectacular weather day. To the pleasure of so many members, earlier model Alfas turned out in huge numbers — Giuliettas, a Montreal, Duettos, 1750 Spider Veloces, an Alfetta, a Berlina, several GTVs, and, of course, Paul Glynn’s own Giulietta Spider Veloce, owned almost 5 decades. Several members came from Rhode Island (Rod Burdick and John DeWaele) and New Hampshire (Dave & Arline France, Lou & Donna D'Amore, and others). Paul Glynn and Michael Wrigley spent most of the day with members, and assisted them with questions about originality and mechanical fixes. Even the event organizer found out his water pump was well on its way to pump heaven (spitting gunk onto fan & inside the hood — thank you, Michael), before it would have seized on a New Hampshire road trip.
Other highlights included Tom Lesko’s tribute to Paul’s 50 years of Alfa
ownership and servicing countless road and race cars to an assembled
crowd of Alfisti. The best wrap sandwiches on the North Shore were
catered by Off the Vine in Rowley (if you are going to GMS for service, try to
stop at the restaurant for lunch or dinner).
