Simeone Museum Trip

By John Pulsifer

I was one of maybe only two AONE members to go on the bus tour to Philly on Saturday, April 6th. (Someone told me there was another Alfa guy on the bus on the return trip, but after the long ride back I think we were all ready to jump in our cars and get home, so we never met up.) But it was a great trip!

These photos can also be found on my website. There, if one views each photo, there is a larger 1800-pixel-wide version that may be downloaded with a right-click for anyone who wants those as a screensaver or other personal or AONE use.

Dr. Simeone was a generous host and gave us a guided tour throughout the museum including the research library which contains a massive collection of automobilia. After a catered "South Philly" lunch on the premises, our trip leader, Jerry Lettieri, presented Dr. Simeone with a gift. Then we all gathered to watch Dr. Simeone drive the 1936 Aston Martin Le Mans. After the Aston demonstration, we were free to roam the museum for the next couple of hours until closing at 4PM.

Here is a video of Dr. Simeone driving his 1936 Aston Martin:

The Simeone Museum website is at www.simeonemuseum.org. On May 25th (Alfa Romeo Club Day), he will be driving some Alfas around the parking lot! I'm not sure I will make the trip, but that should be a great day!

I want to thank Jerry Lettieri and all who made this trip a success. In case you missed it, there was a great article about the Simeone Foundation Museum in the April, 2010 issue of Alfa Owner. You can also find some great videos on YouTube put there by the Simeone Museum. Tiny Quadrifoglio
