Winter Dinner Party

ANother Party so soon?  Yes, friends, our annual mid-winter AONE Pot Luck Dinner Party will be happening the evening of Saturday, February 8th! Once again, it'll be held at the Josiah Smith Tavern in Weston, MA, at 6:00 PM, the venue for many of our AONE affairs over the years. It’s a cozy, old, comfortable, wood-paneled, centrally-located location that’s perfect for our gathering.

As are our wont and desire, the dinner will again be our pot luck smorgasbord, which always produces a terrific feast. We Alfisti always come through with the assortment of scrumptious dishes that show up each year! So if you make a special dish (or can talk your significant other into making one for you), bring it along to Weston! This is an Italian car club, so Italian food is generally a central theme, but it really doesn’t matter. Entrees, salads, breads, desserts — whatever gets your culinary juices flowing! There’s a kitchen available to warm things up.

This year, we will have a special presentation by AONE Director George Dolak, showing pictures of and talking about his recent trip to South Africa where he and others did a "Mille Miglia" (thousand mile) tour ... in Alfa Giuliettas! Tom Lesko has seen a few of the photos and video clips and reports that he was quite surprised at the variety of terrain and wonderful driving roads. This should be a very interesting presentation! Also, Tom will be showing pictures of our events from last year, the "year in review" while we feast.

But don't forget that this is mainly ... an AONE members' party! The club will be supplying soft drinks, but if you prefer something a tad heartier, feel free to bring your own. And don’t forget the door prizes! There will be lots of them, and you’re more than likely to go home with some sort of Alfa-oriented trinket or treasure!

We’ll be kicking things off at 6 pm. Don’t forget your significant other — we'll promise to keep the tech talk to a minimum. Dress is casual. If you have any questions, contact Tom Lesko (tmlesko@comcast.net or 781-749-9132).

The AONE Winter Party has become a perennial institution, and we often get 40 or 50 revelers. It makes for a great way to break up the winter, and gives us faith that Alfa driving season can’t be far off. Don’t miss this year’s celebration!

Directions to the Josiah Smith Tavern

From the East: Take Route 128 (I-95) to the Weston/Route 20 exit (Exit 26). Follow Route 20 west for 1.2 miles until you reach the first set of lights. Take a right onto School Street, and travel one block to the town center. Take a left, and the tavern is a white clapboard building on the left.

From the West: Take Route 20 east. One-half mile past the Weston Police Station, you will reach a set of lights. Take a left onto School Street, and travel one block to the town center. Take a left, and the tavern is a white clapboard building on the left.
