It's time for a club movie night again! Yes, film buffs, our next AONE Pizza and a Movie Night is coming right up on Saturday, November 16th. Our previous screening parties have met with excellent turnouts each time, so we hope you'll join the fun!

Our feature this time is A Sicilian Dream, a film about the Targa Florio, the Sicilian mountain road race that, in 1906, gave birth to an era of motorsport that is still going today. Dramatic re-enactments and modern contributors relate the history of these epic races (Alain de Cadenet plays in it). And don't fear for the spouses in attendance — the movie is brimming with beautiful Sicilian scenery that will please everyone!

AONE Treasurer and Movie Reviewer Peter Walker has this to say:

I think the choice of A Sicilian Dream is perfect. It is about the Targa Florio, the fabled race over ordinary Sicilian roads. Alfas were very successful there (and I think Porsche received its first overall victory in a highly prestigious international race at a Targa in the early 1960s). My uncle raced there, and after he broke down was passed twice by Stirling Moss.

Alfa has the 2nd highest number of outright first places (10, behind Porsche's 11, but the highest number of 2nd places). Also, an Alfa Tipo 33 won in 1971 and in 1975 (1977 was the last year).

This movie gets great reviews and was nominated for "Best Story" and "Talented New Director" at the Nice Film Fest International 2016. To further whet your appetite, here's the official trailer:

We'll be setting up once again in Dave & Vi Pratt's living room in Dedham, MA. It's centrally located, just a mile and a half off Route 128 (I-95).

Before the film, there's pizza! We'll gather around 5:00PM, the pizza will arrive around 5:30, and we'll dim the lights and run the movie at 6:00. We'll also have popcorn available to munch on during the movie, and the club will supply bottled water and soft drinks. Please note that Dave no longer makes homebrew, so bring your own beer, wine, or whatever — there's a dedicated fridge for you to stash it in.

After the movie, we'll repair to the kitchen for coffee and desserts (contributions appreciated — please let Dave know if you're bringing something so we don't get deluged with confections!).

Finally, we'll present a set of short subjects related to the Targa Florio for any who might be interested in hanging around. As you might expect, there's a lot of material on the subject available, and we'll try to gather together some of the best!

Our presentations, don't forget, will all be displayed on our club's spiffy big-screen, multi-channel audio/video system for your viewing and listening pleasure.

There is no charge for members and their families, but we'll be asking a $10 donation from non-members to help defray the pizza expense. So that we know how much pizza to get, you must sign up with Dave Pratt (dave@dvpratt.com or 781-320-8208) by Friday, November 15th, at the latest. Seating is limited to 30 people and is first come, first served!

Teatro a Casa Pratt is located at 300 Westfield Street, Dedham, MA. Take Route 128 (I-95) to Exit 16 for Route 109 east toward Dedham. In about 3/4 mile, turn left onto Westfield (if you hit a traffic light you've gone too far). Bear left at immediate fork. 300 Westfield Street is on the left, 0.8 mile from Rt. 109, #300 (and perhaps an Alfa banner) on a tree.
