The weather's gotten cool so it must be time for movie night! Yes, our next AONE Pizza and a Movie Night is coming right up on Saturday, November 18th. Our previous screening parties have been big hits, with excellent turnouts each time, so we hope you'll join the fun!

This time around, we've got a double feature lined up — two not-too-lengthy movies that we're sure you'll enjoy. In keeping with our goal of coming up with car-oriented films that are off the beaten track (so to speak), here's what we've got planned:

Speed Sisters — The Speed Sisters are the first all-women race car driving team in the Middle East. "They're bold. They're fearless. And they're tearing up tracks all over Palestine." Here's a quick synopsis:

Grabbing headlines and turning heads at improvised tracks across the West Bank, these five women have sped their way into the heart of the gritty, male-dominated Palestinian street car-racing scene. Weaving together their lives on and off the track, SPEED SISTERS takes you on a surprising journey into the drive to go further and faster than anyone thought you could.

The movie runs 1 hour, 18 minutes. To further whet your appetite, here's a trailer:

Driving Dreams — This is a shorter (52-minute) recent film produced in Italy about some of the most stunning sports cars ever produced: the designs that came out of Turin between the late '40s and the late '60s. Includes footage of the cars and interviews with most of the great Italian designers of the era.

Driving Dreams is the first film dedicated to the men who conceived some of the most remarkable and visionary car designs of the 20th Century. The designers of an era that many call the Italian Automotive Renaissance. A series of interviews of leading men in the field accompanied with stellar imagery of their projects and cars. Shot to capture the finest detail and emotion. A story kept alive, burgeoning with the passion of thousands of ardent followers and enthusiasts. A film celebrating true creativity, passion and beauty.

We'll be setting up in Dave & Vi Pratt's living room in Dedham, MA. It's centrally located, just a mile and a half off Route 128 (I-95). This venue saves the club money and makes it easy to change the date in case of inclement weather.

Here's the agenda: Plan to arrive around 5:00 pm, and we'll have some popcorn popping to get you in the mood. Worried about washing it down? The club will supply bottled water and soft drinks, but since this is Casa Pratt, there will surely be ... free homebrew! If you prefer an alternative beverage, please bring your own.

At around 5:30, we'll dim the lights and start the first feature rolling. By the time the closing credits appear, a big stack of pizza will have magically arrived, and we'll saunter back to the theater lobby (the kitchen) to throw back a few slices. When everyone is sufficiently sated, we'll head back into the theater to take in the second feature.

Our presentations, don't forget, will all be displayed on our club's spiffy big-screen, multi-channel audio/video system for your viewing and listening pleasure.

There is no charge for members and their families, but we'll be asking a $10 donation from non-members to help defray the pizza expense. So that we know how much pizza to get, you must sign up with Dave Pratt (dave@dvpratt.com or 781-320-8208) by Friday, November 17th, at the latest. Seating is limited to 30 people and is first come, first served!

Teatro a Casa Pratt is located at 300 Westfield Street, Dedham, MA. Take Route 128 (I-95) to Exit 16 for Route 109 east toward Dedham. In about 3/4 mile, turn left onto Westfield (if you hit a traffic light you've gone too far). Bear left at immediate fork. 300 Westfield Street is on the left, 0.8 mile from Rt. 109, #300 (and perhaps an Alfa banner) on a tree.
